Joe Wilhoit of the Witchita team is the biggest story of the season. He leads the league in batting average(.422), runs(126), and hits(222). On August 20, he has no hits. The first time in 69 consecutive games, the longest streak in pro ball. During the streak, Wilhoit hit .505 with 151 hits in 299 trips to the plate. Bill Bayne pitched for Tulsa and would go on to have a nine year career in the show. Frank Sparks, Tulsa pitcher, no-hit Joplin for a 6-0 win on June 15.
